Q: Do you do finance?
A: No, we don’t, but you can contact NOW, QCard, Finance Direct, etc to get your personal loan approved.
Q: Is any guaranty on the work you do?
A: Yes, we normally guarantee our work for a minimum period of time of 30 days.
Q: How fast would a normal 50cc scooter go?
A: By New Zealand law, scooters are allowed to travel at a maximum of 50 Km/h on flat. However, it means that your scooter will travel between 30 to 35 Km/h uphill and you will have a bunch of cars behind you.
Q: My scooter travels at a maximum speed of 45 Km/h to 50 Km/h while my friend’s scooter can reach 65 Km/h, why my scooter is too slow?
A: Your scooter may have been ‘restricted’ from factory to 50 Km/h.
Q: Can I have my scooter de-restricted? If so, it is legal?
A: Yes, you can have your scooter de-restricted to be able to travel at 45 to 50 Km/h uphill but you will have to keep 50Km/h on flat. If you exceed this speed, you could be stop by Police and you will have to registered your scooter as a motorcycle.
Q: Can I take my scooter to the Motorway?
A: NO, you can take the scooter to the Motorway.
Q: What kind of licence do I need to ride a scooter?
A: You only need a learner’s driving licence.
Q: Do I need a ‘L’ (learners) yellow plate on my scooter if I only hold a car learners licence?
A: Yes, you need one.
Q: Does my scooter need a WOF (Warrant Of Fitness)?
A: Scooters do not need WOF.
Q: Can I take a passenger on my scooter?
A: Yes, you can only if your scooter has a seat for a passenger and passenger foot pegs, otherwise it is not recommendable.
Q: What’s the difference between a scooter and a motorcycle?
A: The main difference between a scooter and a motorcycle is the engine size. To qualify as a scooter or a moped, the engine size must be 50 cubic centimetres (CC) or below.
Q: Do you offer free estimates for scooter repairs?
A: Yes we do. Bring your scooter in and we will provide you with a free estimate before any work is done!
Q: What brands of scooters do you work on?
A: We repair any brand of motor scooter but we specialised in Chinese, Taiwanese and Japanese scooters.
Q: If I can’t bring my scooter to you, can you come pick it up?
A: Yes, for a fee (depending on your location) we offer a pickup service to bring your scooter to our service centre.
Q: What is your current scooter repair labour hourly rate?
A: We do not have an hourly rate; the quote will be a fix price for the entire work, so you don’t have to worry about any hourly rate.
Q: What are some of the most common problems you see on scooters?
A: Some of the more common problems relate to improper use of the scooter. For example, if you allow the scooter to sit for months without use, the carburettor can become clogged. It’s also a good reminder to cover your scooter when it’s raining so you don’t get any water in your fuel tank.
Q: I haven’t used my scooter in a year, how expensive will it be to get running again?
A: It shouldn’t be that bad if all we have to do is drain the gas and clean the carburettor. Bring your motor scooter to us and we’ll take a look at it for you!
Q: How often should I get my oil changed?
A: We recommend oil change after 2000 km’s or six months, whichever comes first.
Q: Can I drop my broken scooter off after hours at your workshop?
A: Yes you can! Just let us know before you are coming.
Q: Can I wait for my scooter to be repaired?
A: It depends on what needs to be fixed. Give us a call and we should be able to give you an idea over the phone if it would be better to drop off or if you can wait for the repair.
Q: Do you offer on site repairs if something minor needs to be fixed?
A: Yes we do! We can come out to your location and fix minor problems right on the spot for you! We have a minimum repair fee of $50 plus parts.
